I’m amazed it’s taken nine years (since the last LOTR in 2003) for someone to introduce new visual ideas into the world of fantasy films, even though that sometimes just means ripping things off from different places. What Snow White and the Huntsman lacks in the “coherent-story” category, it more than makes up for in the “interesting things to look at” department. take for instance Kristen Stewart and this giant white Miyazaki deer.
Rupert Sanders’ first film isn’t a masterpiece but it’s full of enough cool ideas to keep me interested in seeing what he will do next.
